Hello loyal RT subscriber!
As we creep up on the 2-year anniversary of the relocation to the downtown core, it may come as no surprise to some that RT HQ is going to have to move again.
The reason for the previous change of location in 2023 was due to (1) a lack of foot traffic and (2) high rent. Sadly the move downtown gave us (1) a similar lack of foot traffic and (2) the same cost of rent. Effectively, we made a lateral move which continued to slowly deplete resources.
With that, I’m making the unique and slightly desperately appearing move of closing down the storefront and moving the subscription service temporarily to my home in south central Edmonton (10664 21 Ave NW).
I understand that a home-based Rolling Tales service may not be to everyone’s liking, especially considering the location (near South Edmonton Common) but the shift is not permanent.
I need some time to regroup, pay down some debt, and seek a better home for Rolling Tales. The last move had to be selected and done in under 3 weeks, leading to a quick decision that was not the best choice, as beautiful as the store is.
With nearly 65% of the store’s sales coming from file customer subscriptions, moving the service to the home seemed like a good way to repair the business and allow things to move forward, when ready.
Even with the move to the home, the majority of services will remain the same, such as:- the website’s pre-order page (updated twice a week) and customer portal
- the in-stock shop page will still be updated in real-time
- invoice notifications for items that have arrived for you
- all comics/magazines will still be bagged but will no longer have labels
- special ordering from all suppliers of comics and books in North America. If it’s available, I will bring it in for you
Some things that will change:
- standard hours of operation will shift to Wed-Thurs-Fri from 3 to 7pm (and possibly Saturdays)
- no extra stock will be available with new releases (as I will be ordering for subscriptions only)
- files will need to have payment within 14 days of items arriving (several options will be available)
Some things will be new:
- delivery service on Thursdays (10 to 2) anywhere within Edmonton (possibly Saturdays too)
- images will be added to the Pre-Order page for nearly all items being offered
- the in-stock shop page will be merged into the main website for a single site
I really appreciate everyone who has stood with Rolling Tales throughout the years, and I know this is a big ask to continue to follow me down this path. The search for a new storefront is already underway and lots of options are being explored.
I do hope the service that has been provided to you during your time with RT has proven to be the best you could receive from any shop. Myself and Anthony have tried our best to fill every order and keep the store in top shape for folks to enjoy and we intend to bring that back to the public space as soon as possible.

The final day for the current location to be open will be
SATURDAY, JULY 26
After that date things will be operating out of my home.
