A note from Sylvia:
My goal for Rolling Tales is for it to be a refuge in an otherwise chaotic world. Getting lost, or found, in the pages and pieces of a graphic novel or tabletop game can be like a healing potion. We present Rolling Tales as a haven of positivity in our social media, bright welcoming shop, and amongst each other working at the store.
That is why it is hard to admit that things are not positive right now.
Despite a few months of excitement with Free Comic Book Day and Free RPG Day we are struggling. It was one year ago that we got the keys to RT HQ and we went big with, well, everything.
Do I know why we are struggling? I can identify a few reasons and it’s probably an intricate web of all of them. Do I know how to solve it? We are painstakingly working on solutions, running numbers, pulling out our hair, and adjusting our efforts.
In the meantime, what we need is short term help for long term growth.
What I want to ask of you is to tell someone about Rolling Tales, we'd love to be their headquarters for pop culture too! Heck, bring them around for a visit and ask us for book or game recommendations! Our shelves are stocked with enticing stories for you to discover.
If you, like us, believe in a locally owned brick and mortar comic and game store being a place to celebrate stories and creativity consider pre-ordering comics, games, manga, and more. Starting a file subscription or pre-ordering is one small, and easy, way to support RT.
Free ways to support RT is leave a review on Facebook or Google, share our posts, tag friends, and subscribe to our weekly newsletter. Find our social links in the header and footer of this page.
We see change coming for RT but as I write this I am not sure what shape it will take. To get through this tough time and to work towards that positive future we are striving for we need your help.
Friendly local comic and game stores only exist when folks choose small businesses over mega-corporations. We promise that what we lack in same-day-overnight-shipping-to-your-door we make up for in expertise, personalized service, learning opportunities and events, and connection to our community.
Visit us this weekend (Saturday July 16th/Sunday July 17th) and we’ll offer you 15% off if you spend $50 or more (before GST, some exclusions apply). We’ll also be discounting a large number of Funko Pops and action figures, so don’t miss out.
